I was thinking one day last week about all the professional projects I'd like to accomplish in the next three years and all the places I'd like to see.
For the first time in a long time, I thought, "How in the h@3& is all that going to happen?" Then I began to think about all the "other" things on my life's to-do list and thought there wasn't enough time to make it all happen. I believe Vince Lombardy once said, "I've never lost (a game); I just ran out of time." How can you not love the mindset, the absolute conviction you CAN win every time?
However, on more than one occasion, I have ran out of time, and it wasn't in a football game. There are things I wanted to happen that I hoped to experience that I now won't. There are endeavors in my life that are over for good. Life doesn't come with an easy button. This isn't Staples. And often, there isn't a chance for a "do-over,' this isn't fifth-grade recess or a dress rehearsal.
Living every day with a sense of urgency can be challenging. Everyone is forced to spend the same amount of time daily, and you will never get any of it back. Life's daily indignities can conspire to distract us from what we want. We will never be able to "make time," but we can consciously allocate our time.
Like many activities that produce powerful results, we may have to start slow. Consider reallocating just 10% of your daily screen time to ME time. Sit without a PHONE, and think about how you would love to spend your time. Then take the following steps.
Write your thoughts down and share them with someone. Don't stop, don't give up. It's worth the investment. You can adopt any self-help program in the world, but you have to do the work. You only get one shot at this life. Again, this life isn't a dress rehearsal. Don't stop, and don't give up. It could be the best investment you ever make.
