On September 26th, we hosted our first annual Veterans Appreciation Shoot (VAS) at Nemacolin’s Field Club. This year’s benefactor was The Veterans Breakfast Club (VBC). The VBC is a Pittsburgh founded organization who’s mission is to create communities of listening around veterans and their stories to ensure that this living history will never be forgotten. They believe that through their work, people will be educated, healed, and inspired.
Despite the fact that the only rain of the day fell exactly when the participants were out on the course, spirits weren’t dampened one bit. I had the opportunity to visit with just about everyone and saw nothing but smiles. What was particularly enjoyable for me was seeing many first timers have a good time for a great cause. Over 20% of the participants had never shot sporting clays before. Many newbies were breaking clays thanks to the professional instruction of the Field Club’s trappers. So, for all of you out there who haven’t done it in the past, this is the event for you. Good times were had, good will was generated and good people will benefit.
The staff at the Field club was easy to work with and as usual, delivered first class service. For a first-time event everything went smoothly. Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come out and support the effort and that’s to all those at Nemacolin for helping us through our first Sporting Clays fund raiser.
We’ll be back next year on September 24th for our second annual event. Keep and eye out for more details as we expand our support for our veterans and break more clays.
